ONSHORE STORAGE AND REGASIFICATION

With LNG becoming increasingly viable and popular as a marine  fuel,

E&CO continues to develop technical solutions that facilitate this trend

E&CO ONSHORE STORAGE AND REGASIFICATION

Natural Gas exists at ambient temperature in gaseous form, when it’s considering for a transport and storage. So, transfer and storage are more efficient on liquid form since volume of the liquid Natural Gas decreases to 1/600.

Storage tank shall provide sufficient insulation method to hold -163°C of liquefaction temperature of natural gas.

As well as Storage, Proper vaporization capacity is very important to supply the amount of required gas from equipment.

We provide the best storage and vaporize system to meet customer’s requirements and installation conditions.

TECHNICAL DATA

Normally LNG Storage and regasification facilities consist of a Storage tank to storing LNG, a Vaporizer to vaporize required amount of LNG to NG stably and a pressure control system to adjusting a pressure to required pressure. It is necessary to define a capacity of tank, vaporizer and GSU according to the usage of the facility. The use of the storage and vaporization facilities will be determined by the purpose of each facility such as Power Plant, City Gas, Charging Station and Storage Station.

Type of LNG Storage tank needs to be selected according to the amount of usage. Capacity of less than 1000m3 uses cylindical type, and more than 1000m3 uses Flat Bottom type. Method of insulation is various such as Vacuum&Perlite, PUF, and N2 Sealing. Method should be chosen with consideration of economical and suitable for usage.

Equipment required to supply liquid in tank to vaporizer is PBC and Feed Pump.

Normally PBC uses to supply liquid by increase pressure in the tank itself, but if design of tank pressure is low or requires large quantity of liquid uses Feed pump.

Additional HP Pump may be required depending on the pressure requirement of supply.

In case of Power Plant, the required pressure is varies depending on whether it is Generator or Turbine. Genset requires 6~7 bar G inlet pressure using pressure difference, but sometimes HP Pump is requires to consider of the pressure drop at pipe and stable supply.

Liquid that pressurized to the required pressure will go through the vaporizer to change form from liquid to gas. Normally a Ambient Vaporizer uses ambient atmosphere to Heat exchange, a Glycol Vaporizer uses heated glycol to Heat exchange and selection of a vaporizer type that meets the requirements of site condition.

Vaporized NG will be sent to a Pressure Regulating System to maintain constant pressure and supply to the engine.

COMPONENT

LNG Storage Tank

Manufactured and certified to store LNG at -163℃, and requires insulation that can block heats from atmosphere.

Method of insulation is various such as Vacuum&Perlite, PUF, and N2 Sealing. Method should be chosen with consideration of economical and suitable for usage.

Generally, flat bottom type is preferred when a capacity is more than 1,000m3, but there is risks such as local production and manufacturing time at site..

LNG Vaporizer

LNG Vaporizer is a device that exchanges heat of cryogenic LNG to Gas form. There are two types of heat exchangers: Ambient Type and Glycol, which heat exchange with LNG using atmospheric temperature, and heat exchanging with LNG after increasing the temperature by applying heat to the fluid. Ambient Vaporizer is mostly manufactured with aluminum because it can hold cryogenic temperatures and high heat transfer coefficient.

Mostly used Heat Exchanger is PCHE and Shell & Tube type. The advantages and disadvantages of each type should be considered according to site and comprehensive consideration.

FEED Pump, HP Pump

Installed when pressure rise and stable supplying required.

There is various type of pumps such as Sumerged Type, Reciprocating Type, Centrifugal Type and etc.

IHM Heater

Equipment to raise the temperature of the glycol water required for heat exchange, and heating source can be Steam or Electric or other multiple heat sources.

Main material is stainless steel which is resistant to corrosion and heat. Electric type requires periodic maintenance.

Transfer Pump

Transfer Pump installed for stable transfer of Glycol Water, and Centrifugal Type is mostly used. Transfer Pressure is about 3 bar G, and periodic maintenance is requires to maintenance electric motor.

GSU

Determines the size of piping according to the required flow rate for supply and regulates pressure to maintain the stable flow of NG by Regulator.
