[Ammonia Fuel Storage and Supply Facility] ‘World's First’ High Pressure Ammonia R&D Engine and Safety Technology Demonstration

The demonstration of the safety technology and R&D in high pressure ammonia for the first time in the world held in KOREAN REGISTER Green Ship Test & Certification Center (Gunsan-si, Jeonbuk-do) on June 11, 2024.
This demonstration in charge of KOREAN REGISTER attended HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, HD, HD HYUNDAI HEAVY INDUSTRIES CO., LTD. and Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Plants. The operating of ammonia fuel storage & supply system was conducted commissioning which is delivered to KOREAN REGISTER on October, 2023 by E&CO LTD. for test of high pressure ammonia engine in the center.
E&CO LTD. was contracted EPC turn key and delivered it, that including engineering, installation and commissioning of the system for utilizing ammonia at LNG-ammonia dual fuel engine. It was completed commissioning applied maximum 80 barG supply pressure.
2024년 6월 11일 한국선급 그린쉽기자재 시험·인증센터(전북특별자치도 군산시)에서 “세계 최초” 고압 암모니아 R&D 엔진 및 안전 기술 시연회가 개최됐다.
한국선급이 주관한 이번 시연회에는 HD한국조선해양, HD현대중공업, KRISO(선박해양플랜트연구소)등이 참석했으며, 센터 내 고압 암모니아 엔진 테스트를 위해 2023년 10월 이앤코가 한국선급에 납품한 암모니아 연료 공급·저장시스템의 운용을 위한 시운전을 진행했다.
이앤코는 LNG-암모니아 혼소엔진에 암모니아를 활용하기 위한 저장·공급 설비를 시스템의 설계부터 제작, 설치, 시운전까지 EPC Turn-key 계약을 하여 납품완료 했으며, 공급 압력 최대 80barG까지 적용하여 안전하게 시운전을 완료했다.
