2023년 12월 20일, E&CO R&D 기술연구소에서 개발한 ‘수소 벙커링 3상 (GH2 / LH2 / MH) 표준모델’이 한국선급으로부터 기본 설계의 기술적 적합성을 검증하는 기본승인 (Approval in Principle, AIP) 인증을 획득하였다.
국제해사기구(IMO) 온실가스 감축 전략 등 해운분야 환경규제 강화에 따라 친환경 선박으로 조선·해운시장 패러다임이 빠르게 전환되고 있다. 무탄소연료인 수소는 상온에서 무색, 무취, 무미한 가연성 가스이자, 무독성가스로서 누출시 폭발범위가 매우 넓고 금속을 녹이는 성질을 가져 저장과 운반의 어려움 등 취급이 까다로운 물질로서 안전 검증 체계가 반드시 확보되어야 한다. 이에 E&CO는 발빠르게 대응하여 수소 벙커링 3상(GH2 / LH2 / MH)에 대해 AIP인증을 획득하고 지속적으로 연구개발을 진행하고 있다.
이와 같이 E&CO는 꾸준한 연구개발을 통해 친환경연료에 대한 사업영역을 점차 확대하고 있다.
On 20 December 2023, the 'Hydrogen Bunkering 3-phase (GH2 / LH2 / MH) generic Model' developed by E&CO R&D center received the Approval in Principle (AIP) certification from the Korean Register of Shipping, which verifies the technical suitability of the basic design.
The paradigm of the shipbuilding and shipping market is rapidly shifting to eco-friendly ships in response to the strengthening of environmental regulations in the shipping sector, including the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) greenhouse gas reduction strategy. Hydrogen, a carbon-free fuel, a colorless, an odorless and a tasteless combustible gas at room temperature, and as a non-toxic gas, it has a very wide explosion range in case of leakage and has the property of melting metals, making it difficult to store and transport, so a safety verification system must be secured. In response to this, E&CO has acquired AIP certification for hydrogen bunkering three-phase (GH2 / LH2 / MH) and is continuously conducting research and development.
As such, E&CO is gradually expanding its business scope for eco-friendly fuels through continuous research and development.
