E&CO LTD. completes supply and commissioning of ammonia gas fuel supply system

In July 2024, E&CO LTD. successfully completed the supply and commissioning of the ammonia gas fuel supply system under contract with the Korean Register (KR).

Installed at the KR Green Ship Test & Certification Center in Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do, the system is designed, fabricated, and installed to supply ammonia in gaseous form to the engine under specified operating conditions (7–9 barG, 25–45°C, 500 kg/h) without compromising the target power output. Notably, this system is an extension of the previously delivered liquid ammonia high-pressure facility, and the scope of work included securing an amended permit for the high-pressure gas usage facility.

With the successful deployment of both liquid and gaseous ammonia fuel supply systems provided by E&CO LTD., the Korean Register now possesses the full capability to supply ammonia fuel tailored to the requirements of engine development. This advancement is expected to accelerate the evaluation and development of carbon-free dual-fuel engines.

2024년 7월 주식회사 이앤코는 한국선급(KR)과 계약한 암모니아 기상 연료 공급 시스템 납품과 시운전을 완료했다.

한국선급 그린쉽기자재 시험인증센터(전라북도 군산시) 내 설치된 이 설비는 엔진에 암모니아 기상 연료를 요구 조건으로 공급(7~9 barG, 25 ~ 45℃, 500 kg/h)하여 개발 목표 출력까지 내는 것에 문제가 없도록 설계, 제작 및 설치됐다. 특히, 기존 암모니아 고압가스 시설(액상 암모니아 저장 및 공급 설비)에 추가되는 설비로 암모니아 고압가스 사용시설 변경 인허가가 주요 업무로 포함됐다.

한국선급은 이앤코에서 납품한 두 유체(액상, 기상)의 암모니아 연료 공급 설비를 구축함으로써 암모니아 연료를 개발엔진 연료 조건에 맞게 공급할 수 있는 역량을 갖췄고, 이를 통해 무탄소 이중연료 엔진의 성능평가 및 개발에 박차를 가할 수 있게 됐다.
